This Privacy Policy explains how MacroTracker ("MacroTracker," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our mobile application and related services (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

Information We Collect

What we collect depends on how you use the App:

• Guest mode: if you use the App without creating an account, your meals, macros, goals, and other nutrition data are stored locally on your device only. We do not collect or store this information on our servers.
• Account information: the rest of the data collection described below applies only if you choose to create an account. You currently have the option to sign in with Google (Android only), which shares your name and email address with us. We never see or store your password or other login credentials; sign-in is handled by Google.
• Nutrition and health data: if you create an account, the meals, macros, calories, weight, goals, and other information you log in the App are stored on our servers.
• Photos and camera data: images you capture of food or nutrition labels are used to identify items and estimate portions, and may also be used to help us improve the accuracy of our food-recognition service. Photos are deleted once we no longer need them for these purposes.
• Device and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, and general usage analytics that help us understand how the App is used and fix problems.
• Health app data (optional): if you choose to connect Apple Health, Google Fit, or similar services, we access the specific data types you authorize (for example, step count) to power related features.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the App's core features, including AI-based food recognition and barcode/label lookups.
• To personalize your nutrition targets and track your progress over time.
• To communicate with you about your account, support requests, or updates to our policies.
• To monitor, debug, and improve the accuracy and performance of the App.
• To process subscription purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

• Service providers who help us operate the App (for example, cloud hosting and AI processing providers), under obligations to protect your data.
• App marketplaces (Apple App Store, Google Play) to process purchases and subscriptions, subject to their own privacy policies.
• Legal authorities where required to comply with the law or protect our rights and users.

Data Retention

If you use the App as a guest, your data lives only on your device and is retained until you delete the App or clear its data — we have no copy of it. If you create an account, we retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App.

Your Rights and Choices

• If you use the App as a guest, all of your data is stored locally on your device. Deleting the App will permanently delete this data, and we're not able to recover it for you.
• If you have an account, you can access, update, or correct your information from within the App's settings, and you can delete your account and all associated data at any time directly from Settings — you don't need to contact us to do this.
• You can revoke camera or health app permissions at any time from your device settings, though doing so may limit certain features.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above or, where appropriate, through the App.
